Day 1, Sight #9: Gambrinus, The King of Beer

We went to park near Gambrinus, the king of beer, when a big black man carrying mace and a Maglite walked up to Kellen.  Afraid to get out of the car, Amanda and Rachel stayed inside, attempting to listen but not succeeding (which surprises no one because Rach was in the backseat of the truck and Amanda's deaf).  It turns out the man is a security guard for Pabst and was guarding the old buildings from crackheads who steal copper and sell it.  "Lock yo' shit up!" he told us.  "Motha fuckas be stealin' shit 'round here!"  He then walked us to Gambrinus after politely refusing to take a photo with Rachel because he thought it would end up on the Internet, and he was right.  It would have.  Gambrinus was nothing too spectacular, because we didn't know who he was or why he was important at the time.  Two semi-drunk good-looking mid-thirties white males took our picture with Gambrinus and then we hurried back to the truck before any crackheads could steal our shit.  It was definitely the best experience of our lives!

The old Pabst sign over one of the buildings the guard was guarding from crackheads.

One of the buildings he was guarding up close.

Gambrinus looking all royal with his beer.
